The 20 bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU) serves patients who undergo cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, lung transplantation, redo sternotomy, mini‑sternotomy, TAVR, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, aortic aneurysm repair, and combined CABG/valve procedures. Nurses care for patients with mechanical circulatory support devices and ECMO. Patients are recovered in the TCV ICU postoperatively for a minimum of 24 hours or longer, as needed to wean ventilatory support and vasoactive infusions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

  • Experience:

    1 year of relevant experience.

  • Licensure/

    Certifications:

    Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Physical Demands

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull 20‑50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

Compensation

New hire compensation will be determined by previous work experience, education, and/or experience.

Onboarding Requirements

Background checks and pre‑employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety‑sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.

Position Compensation Range: $39.90 - $53.00 Hourly
