Overview

The Neuro ICU is a 12-bed critical care unit providing intensive management to patients with life-threatening neurological and neurosurgical conditions.
Cases typically seen include central nervous system tumors, complex spine surgery, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, endovascular interventions, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular diseases, status epilepticus, and central nervous system infections. UVA is seeking capable clinicians focused on expanding knowledge and skills as part of the interdisciplinary team.
Consistently providing effective direct care, the clinician will manage care and implement treatment plans at a refined skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other health care team members. The role involves seeking and providing feedback for improved clinical practice. The clinician may assume a beginning leadership role but seeks mentoring in this process.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care as part of the interdisciplinary team in the Neuro ICU.
- Manage care and implement treatment plans for a variety of complex patients.
- Collaborate with patients, their families, physicians and other health care team members to optimize outcomes.
- Seek and provide feedback for improved clinical practice.
- Assume a beginning leadership role with mentoring.
- Uphold Relationship Based Care principles and clinical standards as described in UVA Nursing Practice models.

Full Time (36 hrs, 3 12 hour shifts)

- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. - Experience:
1 year of relevant experience. - Licensure:
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Position Compensation Range$39.90 - $53.00 Hourly
