Director of Development

General Purpose

In the last year, the Institute for Family Studies (IFS) has doubled its fundraising revenue and seeks to sustain this success. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Development will oversee fundraising efforts for IFS.

• Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop a fundraising strategy that:
• Builds our base of core general operations support
• Sustains our grants program
• Pursues high-value project-specific opportunities
• Develop a portfolio of major donors through calls, visits, and other cultivation (includes some travel)
• Manage up to Executive Director to cultivate highest-value donors and prospects
• Collaborate with Director of Communications to produce compelling donor messaging, letters, and collateral materials
• Manage grants program, pursuing opportunities for new and increased funding
• Develop a plan for development processes, operations, reporting, and team growth

• Understanding and passion for marriage, family, and the mission of IFS
• Strong work ethic
• Attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple projects at once
• Deep knowledge of best practices in nonprofit development
• Ability to develop meaningful relationships with major donors and close transformative gifts
• A track record of raising significant support for a compelling mission

• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
