About the Role

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to lead EH&S programs at our Mikro Systems Facility in Charlottesville. The role focuses on managing compliance, developing policies, fostering a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive the culture of the Environmental, Health, and Safety program at the Mikro Systems Facility.
  • Support implementation of the Raytheon Technologies and Pratt & Whitney EH&S Management system.
  • Organize and maintain EH&S policies and procedures for regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the site EH&S Council.
  • Oversee all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies (LOTO, electrical safety, machine guarding, etc.).
  • Manage the environmental program (wastewater permitting, RCRA waste management, air permits, storm water, x‑ray registrations).
  • Coordinate the Workers’ Compensation process, first aid and injury reporting.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (corrective actions, environmental protection projects, conservation activities).
  • Interface with government agencies for audits, reports, permits.
  • Work with Human Resources to implement EHS training requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audit findings, and develop corrective actions.
  • Implement changes related to facility and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with facility and safety codes.
  • Participate in cross‑functional teams for building safety and security.
  • Manage site contractors, inspect work, coordinate with departments.
  • Ensure projects comply with policies for high and low risk work.
  • Plan, organize, and schedule maintenance, construction, renovations, repairs to ensure facility functioning.
  • Assess work vs. internal vs. contractor execution.
  • Collaborate with global security team for physical security.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field and 8 years of experience in EH&S, Risk, or related field; or an advanced degree with 5 years of experience.
  • U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • DOT Training.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Certification or experience managing Ergonomic risk reduction.
  • Experience leading multi‑functional teams with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar.
  • Experience as a dynamic problem solver with creative solutions.
  • Expert in risk assessment and reduction.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $101,000 - $203,000 USD.

Benefit availability depends on business unit and collective bargaining agreements.
