Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for Cornell 2, our Medical Surgical Neuro Unit. This is a full time, day shift in Charlottesville, VA.

Hours7 AM to 7 PM – Three 12-hour shifts (36 hours per week), with rotating weekends.
Department/Position OverviewCornell 2:
Our Medical/Surgical Unit specializes in a vast array of patient conditions including oncology, urology, diabetes, kidney disease, COPD, and CHF. We provide a dynamic environment for experienced nursing professionals and new graduate nurses. With a patient‑to‑nurse ratio of 1:5/1:6, you’ll develop your skills while receiving mentorship from experienced staff. Operating on 12‑hour shifts with weekend rotations, we offer comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development to foster collaboration and growth in your nursing career.

The Patient Care TechnicianThe Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.
Education- High School Grad or Equivalent
- One of the following programs:
Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
- AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- One year of health care experience is preferred.
