Overview
These roles provide essential assistance to healthcare professionals in delivering patient care. Ensure the smooth functioning of clinical operations by handling tasks that support the diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural aspects of patient care. Allied Health - Health Services professionals work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services. These roles focus on the preparation, performance, and post-operative support to surgical teams.
Responsibilities include sterilization, instrument preparation and handling, and or operational or hands-on support required during surgery. May work in our hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics, and have responsibilities from planning and preparation to recovery and follow-up. Does not include Perioperative Nurses.
- Support the preparation, performance, and post-operative activities for surgical teams, including sterilization, instrument preparation and handling, and operational or hands-on support during surgery.
- Collaborate with hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics, with responsibilities spanning planning and preparation through recovery and follow-up.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled or graduated from a surgical technologist training program accredited by CAHEEP/ABHES OR NCCT Approved program.
Experience: No experience required.
L icensure: BLS required. Certified to practice as a Surgical Technologist by NBSTSA (The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) or NCCT (The National Center for Competency Testing) required at time of start date. Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at the time of hire.
Physical DemandsJob requires standing for prolonged periods; repetitive motion: passing instruments, lifting heavy instrument sets. Proficient communication, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull >50 - 100 lbs. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
CompensationThe starting base rate for this role is $26.40 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
