The Associate Chaplain’s primary responsibility is to provide for the pastoral care needs of residents in our Health Center and Catered (Assisted) Living. With the direction of the Manager of Spiritual Care Services, the Associate Chaplain will provide spiritual and emotional support to the residents in the care settings to include provision for their spiritual health and formation, worship, end of life, grief, crisis intervention, and visitation needs.
The Associate Chaplain assists as needed in the coordination of pastoral and worship services across campus and acts as backup for the Manager of Spiritual Care Services. The Associate Chaplain will also be available to provide pastoral support to associates in the care settings which may include direction to other resources such as the EAP, HR, and/or the associate’s personal clergy or spiritual leader.
- Responds to meet and offers to visit all new Health Care and Catered Living residents who transition from within the WC campus, and from the community. Provides pastoral visits as needed in area hospitals.
- Offers and provide pastoral support to residents in care settings who are experiencing a health decline and /or receiving hospice care. Responds to offer support and maintain contact with the families and/or loved ones of these residents thru the end of life and bereavement process as appropriate.
- Arranges or provides spiritual programming opportunities in the Health Center and Catered Living. This programming is to include but is not limited to bible studies and devotions.
- Assists residents to be connected to /renewed in their spiritual belief system. As appropriate, facilitates connection to their place of worship and clergy/spiritual leader(s) in the community.
- Participates in and contributes to the Care Plans of the residents in care settings, with respect to residents and family preferences. Communicates information essential to effective care planning and provision of spiritual and emotional needs to the Manager of Spiritual Care Services and other appropriate associates.
- Provides Vespers services in the WC Chapel on Sunday afternoon. Assists in the planning and/or conducting of special worship services, especially surrounding major religious observances across the WC campus.
- Coordinates, arranges and/or officiates memorial services, celebrations of life, and remembrance gatherings at WC .
- Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary.
- Must be ordained and in good standing with their respective denomination.
- Must be able to administer Holy Communion and be well versed in preparing liturgies for worship and prayer services, while being sensitive to and able to respect and serve people of diverse faith traditions and belief systems.
- A minimum of five years in a pastoral setting with an emphasis and some experience in long-term care, acute care, or hospice care.
- Experience in a CCRC setting is preferred.
