Registered Nurse - Licensed Clinical Research Coordinator (varying levels)
Join the University of Virginia’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (Interventional Cardiology) as a Registered Nurse (RN) to coordinate all aspects of clinical research from study start‑up through archiving of study records.
Responsibilities- Recruit, screen, and enroll study participants who meet research criteria.
- Obtain informed consent and maintain telephone and in‑person contact with participants.
- Administer study medications and pharmaceutical stress agents, monitoring patients during stress testing.
- Collect basic information through scripted and non‑scripted interviews, maintaining appropriate logs and tracking participants.
- Process, prepare, and ship laboratory specimens.
- Perform organizational and planning tasks, coordinating with physicians, research staff, and departmental staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Active RN license in Virginia.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications. Nursing Diploma may substitute for a degree for Licensed RN.
- CRC experience levels:
- CRC 1 – None.
- CRC 2 – At least one year of clinical research experience.
- CRC 3 – Minimum three years of clinical research experience;
Master’s or advanced degree may substitute for one year of experience. - CRC 4 – At least seven years of clinical research experience with progressive responsibility;
Master’s or advanced degree may substitute for one year of experience. - Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) required within one year of hire.
This is a primarily sedentary position involving extensive use of a desktop computer. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings.
