Cloud Engineer

The Cloud Engineer will focus on ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems hardware, software and infrastructure that support the core CFA Institute business functions globally. The position will be accountable for designing, building and supporting activities for technologies including enterprise application software, virtual server systems, Microsoft Azure, AWS, O365 productivity suite VPN/AVD and remote control access solutions.

The Cloud Engineer will monitor and analyze system performance and availability using Azure tools, Zabbix, and manage third party vendors for service and support of their systems.

The position will serve as a backup to the Senior Network Engineer.

• Design, build/upgrade, test and implement physical and virtual server and storage systems supporting the business needs of the organization. Virtual servers can be provisioned in both Azure and AWS.

• Perform changes in Palo firewalls, and Cisco switches.

• Identify, communicate, and resolve issues and problems to maximize the availability and performance of critical IT systems. Participates in Incident, Event and Configuration processes to remediate or mitigate systems or storage‑related operational or performance problems.

• Monitor, maintain, support, and optimize operations and performance of physical and virtual systems and software.

• Perform performance tuning activities for all physical and virtual enterprise server and storage systems. Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and recommend remedial process and technology solutions.

• Ensure that implemented technologies are effectively documented, monitored, and managed by internal or external service management teams.

• Collaborate with and assist other IT team members and vendors in monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing other networked software and associated operating systems.

• Provide expertise in complex system subject matter areas on projects and initiatives where appropriate.

• Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Certification in one technology stack – Azure, AWS, Cisco, O365. Multiple certifications a plus.

• Ability to work in Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools.

• Working knowledge of firewalls (Palo preferred) and Cisco switches.

• 3+ years of IT Professional work experience

• Fluency in English required, knowledge of additional languages would be useful.

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation.

• Ability to create new and unique ideas and an entrepreneurial spirit a plus.

• Proficient using standard office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook

• Very high level of organizational and time management skills

• Flexibility in competently juggling competing priorities and changing expectations.

• Excellent consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills.

• Must demonstrate good judgment and mature business skills.
