Leidos Dynetics is seeking a motivated, detailed-oriented problem-solver to join our modeling and simulation team as a Senior Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Charlottesville, VA.
You will play a valuable part in developing and testing models of aerospace systems, to include air-launched weapons; ballistic missile systems; avionics; hypersonic vehicles; and guidance, navigation, and controls across a wide range of projects and programs.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape technical direction, influence major program outcomes, and drive innovation across some of our most advanced aerospace efforts.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles.
- Guide and mentor a team of engineers in the development of representative flight models.
- Document model performance against requirements.
- Document algorithm design.
- Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members.
- Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations.
- Candidate must be local to or willing to relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area.
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 8+ years applicable experience (or M.S. with 6+ years)
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess a Secret Clearance with the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Top Secret Clearance.
- Experience with 3
DOF/6
DOF flight models - Experience with modeling missile systems
- Experience in MATLAB/Simulink
- Experience in C++ or Python
- Experience leading a team to meet customer requirements
- Detailed understanding of the systems engineering process for aerospace systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to travel when needed by the program
- Experience with ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, or hypersonic vehicles
- Experience with configuration management tools such as SVN and Git
- Experience integrating and testing GNC algorithms
- Experience in ITASE or AFSIM
- Experience leading Modeling and Simulation teams
