Upper School Theology Teacher (Grade 10)
The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated educator to teach Theology in the Upper School beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Serving more than 750 students from Pre‑K through Grade 12, our school is a gospel‑centered community of faith and learning committed to the formation of the whole person through a rich and humane education.
Faculty at The Covenant School understand teaching as a Christian vocation. They take personal responsibility for students’ intellectual, spiritual, and personal growth and work together to cultivate a community of scholars in which students are known, challenged, and formed in habits of thought and character for lives of faithful service.
The tenth grade theology course, Christ and Our Questions, invites students to engage the claims of Christianity through close reading of the Gospel of John and through the study of Christian apologetics. Students examine the person and work of Christ while exploring enduring questions about belief, doubt, truth, and the nature of the good life. Through reading, discussion, and written reflection, students consider thoughtful Christian responses to questions raised by contemporary culture and competing worldviews.
The course seeks to cultivate intellectual clarity, charitable dialogue, and confidence in articulating and defending the Christian faith and explaining their own personal beliefs. We are seeking an educator who enjoys working with adolescents and who can establish an orderly, respectful, and intellectually vibrant classroom. The teacher approaches theology with both intellectual seriousness and pastoral care, helping students ask genuine questions while guiding them toward thoughtful engagement with Scripture and the Christian tradition.
In keeping with the school’s mission, the teacher integrates Christian faith naturally and thoughtfully into instruction, helping students encounter the Gospel as both a historical witness and a living source of truth and wisdom.

Master’s degree preferred - Experience teaching high school students preferred
