Job SummarySt. Anne’s-Belfield School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substitute Teacher to provide coverage for the Early Childhood Program classrooms on an as‑needed basis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm for supporting student learning across a range of grade levels and subjects. Substitute Teachers are responsible for implementing prepared lesson plans, managing classroom environments, and fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere that encourages student growth and development.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Delivery
:
Follow and implement lesson plans prepared by the primary classroom teacher, ensuring continuity of learning for all students. - Classroom Management
:
Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment, maintaining order and promoting positive behavior to support a safe and productive learning space. - Student Support
:
Provide individual and group instruction and support to meet students' varied learning needs. Address student questions and provide feedback as necessary. - Attendance and Documentation:
Accurately record daily attendance and submit any necessary documentation, including assignments or reports, to the regular teacher and/or administrative staff. - Communication:
Collaborate with teaching assistants, grade-level teams, and administration as needed. Provide notes on the day's events or progress for the returning teacher.
- Educational Background
:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred. Relevant coursework and/or experience working with children in an educational setting required. - Certification
:
Valid state teaching certification preferred; substitute teaching certification or permit may be acceptable based on state requirements. - Experience
:
Prior experience working with children, preferably in a school environment. - Skills
:- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow detailed lesson plans and adapt as necessary.
- Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and administrators.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive approach to student engagement.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Occasionally required to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
