Assistant Professor of Scenic Design
The University of Virginia’s Department of Drama invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Scenic Design .
Duties include teaching two courses per semester; advising and mentoring students at the graduate and undergraduate levels; building an excellent portfolio of professional creative work and/or research; and contributing to departmental, university, and national service in the field.
The Department of Drama offers undergraduate training in performance, design, and theatre studies and is part of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Virginia.
Minimum QualificationsApplicants must hold an MFA in theatre or a related field .
Preferred QualificationsPreferred qualifications include an active agenda of professional creative activity and/or research publication; experience teaching or mentoring scenic design or related subjects at the university or professional theatre level; and a demonstrated commitment to advancing excellence through teaching, research, and/or professional creative practice.
We seek candidates with an established or emerging record of creative and/or published work in any medium of scenic design, including stage, site‑specific, immersive, interactive, or multimedia performance.
