Position: Lecturer-Batten (Faculty Wage)

Overview

The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia seeks applications for part-time lecturers interested in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses during the academic year. The ability to teach core or elective courses on major policy issues or leadership skills is required. An advanced post-graduate degree, a record of publication, excellence in teaching, and/or public service in government, non-profit, or for-profit organizations are highly desirable.

Compensation will take the form of wages.

The Batten School combines rigorous policy analysis with an emphasis on leadership skills and understanding the changing context of public policy in the 21st century. The core faculty includes economists, political scientists, and psychologists, enriched by professors of practice with real-world policy-making expertise. The School offers the MPP degree, an accelerated MPP program, and an undergraduate major and minor in public policy and leadership.

Dual degree programs are offered with the Darden School of Business (MPP/MBA) and the School of Law (MPP/JD) among others. The Batten School has been made possible by a $100 million endowment gift from the late Frank Batten, Sr.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses during the academic year.
  • Teach core or elective courses on major policy issues or leadership skills as required.
Qualifications
  • Advanced post-graduate degree.
  • Record of publication, excellence in teaching, and/or public service in government, non-profit, or for-profit organizations (highly desirable).
