The University of Virginia Library is seeking a Receiving and Cataloging Specialist in the Resource Acquisition & Description department. This position conducts routine receiving, processing, and cataloging of monographs from around the world. They will conduct quality control review of the materials and work with vendors to correct errors with shipments and invoices. They will communicate concerns or changes to vendors and requestors both internally and externally and will serve as a contact for questions about the availability of content.
They will contribute to the maintenance of electronic orders and invoice records with Microsoft Office software. This work is done within the broader context of the Resource Acquisition & Description department, whose mission is to acquire and describe collection materials from around the world in support of the research and teaching at the University of Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor's degree (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree) - Experience:
At least two years of library experience
- Academic library experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with Sirsi Dynix Workflows, or similar Integrated Library Systems
- Reading proficiency in a language other than English
- Knowledge of library technical services operations

Physical DemandsAbility to lift 20 pounds and push a full book cart. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Anticipated hiring range$50,000 - $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.
