Overview
UVA Health is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transplant Hepatologist to join our esteemed faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to clinical excellence, research, and teaching within the field of hepatology and liver transplantation. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative and innovative environment at one of the nation’s top medical institutions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care for patients with liver disease, including pre- and post-liver transplant care.
- Participate in the multidisciplinary liver transplant team, including coordinating care with surgeons, nurse coordinators, and other specialists.
- Engage in clinical and translational research within the field of hepatology and liver transplantation.
- Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in hepatology and liver transplantation.
- Contribute to the academic mission of UVA Health through publications, presentations, and participation in professional organizations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical trials.
- Share in the on-call responsibilities for liver transplant patients.
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certification in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
- Additional fellowship training and board certification in Transplant Hepatology.
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Virginia.
- Strong clinical skills in hepatology and liver transplantation.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine and teaching.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A track record of research and scholarly activity is highly desirable.
- Experience in clinical research, including participation in clinical trials.
- A record of peer-reviewed publications in the field of hepatology or liver transplantation.
- Experience in mentoring and teaching at various levels of medical education.
