Staff Accountant

Our client, a dedicated organization in the social services sector, is seeking a Part-Time Staff Accountant to join their team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be part of the Finance Department supporting the accounting and financial analysis functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Part-Time Staff Accountant

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Pay Range: $25 per hour

Shift: Day shift working 24-26 hours per week, 4-5 days per week

What's the Job?

• Perform transactional and analytical accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable processing
• Reconcile bank statements and prepare financial statements to maintain accurate financial records
• Assist in monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Develop and modify receivable and payable systems, procedures, and policies
• Support audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards

What's Needed?

• 3-5 years of accounting experience with a focus on double-entry fund accounting
• Experience utilizing a computerized accounting system (Great Plains preferred)
• Knowledge of GAAP, general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word
• Ability to work independently with strong judgment and attention to detail
