Position: Summer 2026 Titus Ivory J Hoops Sports Camp Counselor

The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit, social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. The Center provides and initiates diversified social, educational, recreational and cultural programs within a Jewish setting. The JCC is a partner in serving the community, is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Titus Ivory J Hoops Sports Camp Counselor will have responsibility for teaching, mentoring, and modeling the fundamental skills of basketball and life. Provide an atmosphere for developing high morale, positive reinforcement, and well-being to all camp participants.

Responsibilities:
  • Run and instruct basketball stations and drills.
  • Coach Teams 5 vs 5, 3 vs 3 and 1 vs 1 format.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Help coordinate various aspects of the Titus Ivory J Hoops Basketball programs, including event logistics, registration, setup, and breakdown.
  • Participate in staff training prior to the beginning of the camp program.
  • Supervision of a camp teams and/or groups (groups vary in size).
  • Supervise health, safety and activities of campers.
  • Follow weekly schedule of events and special activities.
  • Teach/assist in all sports activities.
  • Supervise and participate with campers in all daily activities.
  • Prepare camper reports and records as required.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by Camp Director.
Requirements
  • High school or college sports experience (preferred).
  • Camping and/or leadership experience.
  • Good character and integrity.
  • Positive physical and mental health.
  • The desire to work with children in a day-camp setting.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience.
  • Ability to take guidance and supervision.
