Position: SYSTEM / RPG Developer (Richmond, VA, Charlotte, NC, Chandler, AZ)

Senior IBM i (AS/400) RPG Developer – Hybrid

Location: Charlotte, NC or Chandler, AZ or Richmond, VA

Work Model: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days onsite per week)

Experience: 7–10 years

Rate: $60-64/hr on W2

About the Role We are seeking a Senior IBM i (AS/400) RPG Developer to support and enhance business‑critical applications in a multi‑tenant IBM i environment. This role involves hands‑on RPG development, system integrations, production support, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate has strong technical depth and is comfortable working closely with both technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain RPG applications (RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG, SQLRPGLE, RPG Free)
  • Develop unit tests and ensure high‑quality, well‑tested code
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize complex RPG applications
  • Work with DB2 on IBM i, including stored procedures, triggers, and query optimization
  • Support production systems and ensure operational integrity of IBM i infrastructure
  • Participate in system integrations, transitions, and architecture discussions
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver reliable solutions
Required Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of hands‑on experience in IBM i (AS/400 / iSeries) RPG development
  • Strong knowledge of IBM i architecture and DB2 database
  • Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and production support
  • Ability to clearly explain technical solutions and decision‑making
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid onsite environment (3 days/week minimum)
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills
  • Experience with Dev Ops practices and automation on IBM i
  • Python, Ansible, or similar scripting/automation tools
  • Microsoft Excel macro (VBA) experience
  • Strong documentation and collaboration skills
