Job Summary

As the Software Engineering Manager for the Curbside & Parking team, you will lead the development and delivery of systems that power real-time curbside management, parking operation experiences. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will own execution across highly available, low‑latency platforms used by cities, operators, and end users in live environments.

You will guide a distributed team of engineers (onshore and offshore), partnering closely with Product, Engineering Leadership, and external partners to deliver scalable, resilient solutions. While setting technical direction and driving delivery, you will remain deeply involved in the codebase—spending approximately 50% of your time contributing directly as an engineer.

This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in complex, real‑world systems where reliability, performance, and operational correctness are critical.

Responsibilities Delivery & Execution
  • Own end‑to‑end delivery of curbside and parking platform capabilities in an agile environment.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, internal engineering teams, and external partners to define requirements and break work into well‑scoped deliverables.
  • Provide accurate estimates for epics, features, stories, and tasks.
  • Manage dependencies across teams and ensure predictable, high‑quality delivery.
  • Respond to and resolve production issues impacting real‑time operations and customer experience.
Technical Leadership
  • Architect and evolve systems designed for high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance to support real‑time curbside and parking workflows.
  • Lead development of APIs and services that integrate with municipal systems, third‑party vendors, mobile applications, and hardware or sensor‑based solutions (where applicable).
  • Align technical solutions with product strategy to support scalability, extensibility, and long‑term platform growth.
  • Drive technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and implementation decisions.
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards for code quality, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure strong SDLC practices with emphasis on automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Build proofs of concept and prototypes to validate technical approaches and reduce delivery risk.
People Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and coach engineers on technical design, estimation, and engineering best practices.
  • Support career growth through regular feedback, coaching, and goal/OKR alignment.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across a distributed team.
Hands‑On Contribution
  • Contribute as a senior engineer, spending approximately 50% of your time coding.
  • Perform design and code reviews to ensure consistency, quality, and maintainability.
  • Help maintain and evolve a distributed, microservices‑based architecture supporting curbside and parking operations.
About You

You are energized by building systems that operate in the real world—where software directly impacts daily operations for cities, operators, and drivers. You enjoy solving problems involving real‑time data, scale, and operational reliability, and you balance short‑term delivery needs with long‑term platform health.

You are comfortable switching between hands‑on coding, architectural leadership, and people management. You communicate clearly, lead with empathy, and hold yourself and your team to a high standard of quality and ownership. You are curious, pragmatic, and motivated by delivering solutions that create measurable impact.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams in an agile environment.
  • Strong background designing, building, and maintaining web applications in distributed systems.
  • Experience with cloud‑native development, preferably on AWS.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern web technologies (e.g., JavaScript/Node.js, React, microservices, LAMP stack).
  • Experience designing and integrating APIs with third‑party systems and services.
  • Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0 authentication and…
