Role: Plumber
Type: Full-time, On-site, 40 hours/week (4/10s). No per diem and no relocation funding.
SummaryPerforms installation, repair, assembly, and maintenance of plant plumbing as well as installation of compressed air, chemical, industrial waste fluids, steam systems, and accessory installations.
Responsibilities- Conduct corrective maintenance to resolve issues and perform preventive maintenance inspections
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners
- Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and clearing clogged drains
- Study building plans and working drawings to determine work required and sequence of installations
- Locate and mark positions of pipes and connections and passage holes in walls and floors using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and fittings using hand and power tools
- Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and threading machine
- Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipes made of metals (iron, steel, brass, lead) and nonmetals (glass, vitrified clay, plastic) using hand and power tools
- Join pipes by screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulking joints
- Fill pipe system with water or air to check for leaks via pressure gauges
- Read blueprints to determine size, position, and material requirements
- Install pipes in walls, ceilings, and floors
- Work in PPE, including rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and respirators, safety harness, safety gear, hard hat, ear protection, and safety glasses
- Demonstrate mobility and ability to work in various positions, reach overhead, and work at heights; conditions include stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs
- Assist with other facility maintenance as required
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in an industrial setting, preferred.
