Position

Technician Diesel Mechanic at Ryder Supply Chain Solutions — Immediate opening for a permanent full-time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet in Charlotte, North Carolina.

• SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
  220).
• Complete all OEM online diagnostic tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days).
• Complete instructor-led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix.
• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including:
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, using diagnostic computers/software when applicable.
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
• Remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns.
• Perform facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the issue.
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance procedures and diagnostics.
• Coach/mentor other level technicians and advise shop management on shop repairs.
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation; comply with all applicable safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Other duties as required to support operations, including service island support.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
• Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
• Diagnostics and repairs including AC and electrical systems.
• Major engine repairs, diesel aftertreatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs (required).
• Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
• Other certifications as required by location.

• Ability to perform all T3 tasks and demonstrate advanced analytical/repair skills.
• Effective interpersonal communication; basic computer skills (PC, Windows).
• Lift up to 50 pounds; ability to work shifts, weekends, and on-call as required.
• ASE certification in PM/Brakes/A/C/electrical/Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic preferred.
• Operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently; have minimum tool set.
• Road test vehicles as necessary; demonstrated ability to coach/mentor others.
