Overview
Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Immediate hiring with schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off; second shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220). - Complete all OEM on-line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days).
- Complete instructor-led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix.
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable.
- Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns.
- Conduct facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint.
- Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics; coach/mentor other level technicians.
- Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs; utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
- Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
- Provide other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or other technical certifications preferred.
- Basic tools required.
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventive maintenance including oil changes, brake and tire work.
- Diagnostics and repairs including AC, electrical systems.
- Advanced repairs including major engine repairs, diesel aftertreatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs.
- Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
- CDL CLASS A preferred.
- All other certifications as required by location.
- Ability to perform all T3 tasks and demonstrated advanced analytical/repair skills in vehicle maintenance.
- Effective interpersonal communication; basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse).
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds; shift work/weekends and on-call duty as required.
- ASE certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics, or ASE Master Mechanic preferred.
- Proficiency with shop computers and diagnostic test equipment; minimum tool requirements; road testing as necessary.
- Ability to coach/mentor others.
