Diesel Maintenance Technician (C)
Job Overview:
Vehicle Technician C will work closely with an experienced technician to gain the knowledge and ability by performing maintenance and repairs on all types of customer's vehicles and equipment, to perform job duties independently; learn to recognize potential problems that could result in mechanical failures and, or safety violations.
- Perform minor repairs and wear item replacement, including performing preventative maintenance, repairing lights, and replacing wires
- Study under Technicians A and B to complete training and to gain knowledge for future repairs
- Partner with Technicians A and B to maintain accurate parts inventory, research, resolve all discovered inventory discrepancies and notify maintenance management when a resolution is not available
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and warehouse
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Basic welding and cutting torch operation skills
- Basic electrical, mechanical diagnostics, and repair skills
- Understanding of tire inflation systems
- Knowledge and ability to mount and dismount tires
- Basic diagnostic tool skills
- Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks
- Must adhere to company uniform and appearance standards
- Professional and appropriate interaction with internal and external customers
- Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/tools, equipment, machinery and, or materials used to power, hand, diagnostic tools operate material handling equipment
- Must be capable of driving company equipment including class 8 tractors working conditions
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to vary the start and finish times, possibly including weekends and holidays
- Basic computer skills
- Each technician needs to provide their own tools
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge acquired through up to 12 months of relevant work experience
- Ability to obtain a D.O.T. Brake Inspection certification
