Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary. This position is designated as mandatory and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by adverse weather conditions.
This position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level. It may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in the assigned zone.
Minimum Education /ExperienceRequired
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Job Duties
The FM Tech Mechanical Trades performs under the direction of the Plumbing Shop Supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for ensuring efficient operation of plumbing systems through routine maintenance and diagnostic assistance. Completing all assigned preventative maintenance.
- Work as part of a team of facility maintenance technicians and assist with various tasks.
- Follow instructions and work under supervision, completing tasks competently and professionally by industry standards.
- Communicate effectively with customers and managers, delivering high-quality customer service in alignment with university policies and procedures.
- Keep track of daily activities by recording them in an order tracking system called Archibus.
- Take on any additional duties assigned to support all operations.
Preferred Experience , Skills, Training/Education
- Basic experience in plumbing or the mechanical trade is preferred. Ability to foster teamwork and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to navigate and use Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Capable of performing the duties of the role, both mentally and physically, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
