Diesel Technician/Mechanic II role at Penske Truck Leasing
Ready to move your career forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.
Main Responsibilities- Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
- Do preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
- Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions and differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
- Keep your work area clean and safe
- Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics

- Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

- Location and schedule flexibility
- 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
- Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
- Experienced using tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools)
- Valid driver’s license required
- The ability to solve problems
- Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- Willing to work in non climate‑controlled conditions
- Basic computer skills
- Must understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management
- Must perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including but not limited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles; regulated by DOT and requires a current driver qualification file maintained as required, including annual MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety Performance History; CDL holders subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse review
- Willingness to travel as necessary within the district (customers’ yards, nearby training sites)
- Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during shift
- Use hands on a routine basis to grasp, reach, touch, operate tools or controls
- Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
- Work in all weather conditions
- See and hear well to navigate work environment
- Lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) routinely and up to 100 lbs (45 kg) occasionally
