Pipe Crew Operator

Abernethy Contracting is seeking an experienced Pipe Crew Operator. In this role, Pipe Crew Operator will operate roller bucket, jumping jack and walk behind compactors.

• Dig trench for pipe, unload pipe from trucks, carry materials with loader, sling pipe for operator, and compact trench with excavator.
• Backfill trench in safe manner using excavator/loader without damage to pipes and structures.
• Unload materials from trucks and maneuver pipe and boxes around jobsite in a safe manner.
• Comply with all company and site-specific policies and procedures.
• Perform routine inspections, safety walk-arounds, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Maintain equipment in good operating condition and reporting of maintenance requirements.
• May perform other job site duties as required based on job site needs.
• Respect and follow leadership and directions from assigned foreman.
• Treat co-workers, subcontractors and customers with respect and professionalism.

• Person must have experience with excavators, roller buckets, jumping jacks and walk behind compactors.
• Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations.
• Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Have the ability to travel within 60-75 miles of greater Charlotte Metro Area.
• Must pass a pre-employment background screening.
