Position OverviewWe are looking to hire an experienced Pipe Layer to join our team. The Pipe Layer assists or is responsible for pipe installation to assure optimum productivity, construction standards, and safety compliance. The role involves layout, assembly, and installation of various sizes and types of water, storm, and sewer systems.
Responsibilities- Set proper grades and elevations (flowline, grade stick, string line).
- Check slopes for conformance to grading elevations, using levels or lasers.
- Connect bell and spigot, sewer and water pipelines.
- Cover pipes with aggregate and native material and compact.
- Hand dig bell holes to verify existing utility locations.
- Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
- Install and repair water, stormwater, and sewer structures and pipe systems within trench shoring shields.
- Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinate layouts with supervisors.
- Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent unsafe actions.
- Take direction from the Foreman and provide support to peers.
- Work safely while adhering to HSS requirements and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain dependability and responsibility to be at work on time.
- General knowledge of underground utility work, materials, methods, and tools involved.
- Track record of performing similar tasks safely and accurately.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 60 lbs consistently.
- Flexibility to work some Saturdays.
- Comfortable working in high‑stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations.
- High level of self‑motivation and strong work ethic.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain and promote a safe working environment.
- Effective communication and flexibility.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year minimum experience preferred.
- Work performed outdoors; weather ranges from freezing to heat above 90°F; wet and dry conditions.
- May work in confined spaces.
- Exposure to odors, gases, dust and dirt.
- Noise level moderate to loud.
- Lift and carry 10‑60 pounds frequently; up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Reach and lift overhead frequently.
- Stand, crawl, climb, bend, twist, push, pull, and reach most of the time.
- Manual labor including hand digging.
- Some Saturday work required;
Sundays rarely needed.
