This role supports fleet truck and trailer maintenance for a large transportation operation. If you take pride in safe, reliable equipment and enjoy hands-on mechanical work, this is a solid long-term opportunity.
Role OverviewThe Diesel Mechanic is responsible for preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on truck and trailer equipment. This is a shop-based role with consistent work, strong processes, and access to training and technology.
What You’ll Be Doing- Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers
- Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, differentials, and fuel systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and emissions-related issues
- Use diagnostic tools and company systems to document repairs
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Complete repairs efficiently with minimal supervision
- Participate in ongoing technical and factory training
- Support additional shop tasks as assigned
- At least 3 years of hands-on diesel or truck maintenance experience
- Experience working on tractor-trailers or fleet vehicles
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical or vocational training preferred
- Experience diagnosing major components strongly preferred
- Familiarity with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- CDL preferred or willingness to obtain CDL within 3 months
- Ability to obtain air brake certification if not already held
- Basic computer skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Comfortable working in non-climate-controlled environments
- Full-time, stable schedule
