We are looking to hire an experienced Pipe Layer to join our team! Pipelayer/Topman is responsible or assisting in pipe installation to assure optimum productivity, constructions standards and safety compliance. The Pipelayer will assist with the layout, assembly and installation of various sizes and types of water, storm and sewer systems.

Responsibilities
  • Set proper grades and elevations i.e. flowline, grade stick, string line.
  • Check slopes for conformance to grading elevations, using levels or lasers.
  • Connect bell and spigot, sewer and water pipelines.
  • Cover pipes with aggregate and native material and compact.
  • Hand dig bell holes to verify existing utility locations.
  • Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
  • Install and repair water, stormwater and sewer structures and pipe systems within trench shoring shields.
  • Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
  • Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors.
  • Ability to take direction from the Foreman and provide support to peers.
  • Work safely while adhering to HSS requirements and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain dependability and responsibility to be at work on time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General knowledge of underground utility work including materials, methods, and tools involved in the installation.
  • Track record of performing similar tasks safely and accurately.
  • Ability to repetitively lift and carry at least 60 lbs on a consistent basis.
  • Must have flexibility to work some Saturdays.
  • Comfort working in high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations.
  • High level of self-motivation and strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment.
  • Individual must be flexible, dependable, and effectively communicate with the team.
Education and Experience
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: One year minimum experience preferred.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
  • Work is performed most frequently outdoors in weather conditions that vary from freezing temperatures to heat above 90 degrees, in wet and dry conditions.
  • Work may be performed in confined spaces.
  • Some exposure to odors, gases, dust and dirt may occur.
  • The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
  • Lifting and carrying 10 up to 60 pounds frequently is required.
  • Lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Reaching and lifting overhead is frequent.
  • Standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and reaching a majority of the time.
  • Work may include manual labor up to and including hand digging.
  • Some Saturday work is required. Sundays are rarely needed.
