Performs preventative maintenance on university property and assets by responding to work order requests for repairs and maintenance to maintain university facilities, as well as leads project work as assigned.

• Responds to work order and project requests for repairs and maintenance as assigned to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Performs preventative maintenance activities on campus and provides recommendations for materials needed or modifications to maintenance performed based on existing conditions.
• Supports other staff with complex work order requests and assists with identifying solutions to issues, as needed.
• Develops and manages plans for project completion, including scheduling maintenance, problem resolution, and developing and purchasing materials needed, to resolve maintenance issues in a timely manner.
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests promptly.
• Conducts routine building inspections to ensure the university equipment and systems are operating efficiently, and submits work order requests to address issues, as needed.
• Prepares facilities for special events.
• Shovels snow and applies salt, as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Moderate amount of experience working in general maintenance or related experience.
• Valid U.S. driver's license.

• Valid HVAC universal refrigerant certification.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/PC.
• Ability to:

• Diagnose and correct HVAC issues.
• Perform tubing and pipe brazing for repairs.
• Safely lift and move parts and equipment as required.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and prepare order information.
• Work safely with hand and power tools, using ladders and lifts.
• Follow JWU and OSHA safety protocols.

• Working knowledge of Johnson Controls Metasys building automation system or similar.
• Experience in refrigeration equipment service.
• Experience working in a commercial/ institutional environment.
• Teamwork skills and ability to coach other team members on complex projects.

Qualified candidates must live or relocate within a daily commuting distance of the Charlotte Campus location upon hire.
