Property Security Guard

Property Security Guard – Permanent, Full-time. Hours 11:00 pm – 7:00 am with rotating days off. Weekend hours required.

Primary Purpose

Provides security to resident students, guests, and visitors. Enforces Housing and Residence Life policies and patrols residence halls to ensure coverage of all residences.

Schedule

Salary

Salary Range: $33,540 – $41,353. Anticipated Hiring Range: $33,540 – $37,594.

Minimum Education / Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Essential

Job Duties
  • Perform protective, security, enforcement, and public contact work in support of campus operations.
  • Secure, guard, and protect property and grounds by patrolling interior and exterior of facilities via foot, vehicle, bicycle, or other mode of transport and monitoring activities using surveillance cameras, alarm panels, card access, or other electronic security systems.
  • Guard property against fire, damage, theft, or other hazards; monitor assigned areas for possible violations of policies, regulations, and rules of conduct; recognize and report unusual, suspicious, or hazardous situations; provide information and assistance to the public; operate and maintain security and enforcement equipment; maintain related records and reports.
  • Apply knowledge of standard safety, surveillance, security, and parking enforcement practices and equipment; basic knowledge of emergency reporting and handling methods; knowledge of applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion; work individually and/or with others; adapt to change and circumstances. May require shift, weekend, and/or overtime work.
Other Work Responsibilities
  • Perform technical security and enforcement work.
  • Work independently while reporting to supervisor on a regular basis, demonstrating full knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to area of work.
