Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department (MCPRD) strives to enrich the lives of our residents by providing exciting and safe recreational amenities and programs, improving fitness, and decreasing health care costs. Position Summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add a Part Time Recreation Assistant to the team at Arbor Glen Outreach Center. This position focuses on assisting with the implementation and execution of recreation programs and leisure activities for diverse populations. Program areas include, but are not limited to arts, crafts, wellness, special events, summer camps, after school programs, and athletics. The selected candidate will be a key member of our team in building strong partnerships with the community.

This position will work a varying schedule of 19 hours per week, which may include daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business and facility needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recreation programming experience highly preferred
Essential Functions
  • Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, website, social media and walk-in patrons for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals.
  • Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary.
  • Enforce rules and regulations.
  • Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals.
  • Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas.
  • May referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper, or lines person at games.
  • Assist with various recreational programs for all ages.
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from the public.
  • Assist with special events and field trips.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: No experience required
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses & Certifications

Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid

Computer Skills

General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
