Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high acuity Pediatric ICU position in a Level 1 pediatric trauma center with strong PICU background and current NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a 24-bed Pediatric ICU within a teaching hospital and Level 1 pediatric trauma center
- Patient population includes respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, and complex medical and blood disorder cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity: typically 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
- Shift: 0645 – 1915, with every other weekend and alternating major holidays required
- Float as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and general Peds units
- EMR used is Epic; familiarity required
- Utilizes advanced equipment such as Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, and others
- No on-call requirements for travelers
- Provide critical care to a varied and high acuity pediatric population
- Collaborate with an extensive team including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV/VAT team, resource nurses, RT, intensivists, residents, and APPs—all available 24/7
- Two-day departmental orientation provided in addition to facility orientation
- Scrub color is navy

- RTO must be approved by manager
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of high acuity pediatric ICU experience needed
- Experience with Epic EMR required
- Competency in vasoactive drip titration, management of invasive lines, ventilators, trach care, tube management, and advanced critical care equipment
- Willingness and competency to float to Pediatric CVICU, discussed in interview
