Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring strong high-acuity pediatric critical care skills and a NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center within a teaching hospital
- Pediatric ICU with 24 beds and an average patient census of 21-23
- Patient populations include respiratory, trauma (including NAT), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant, complex medical, and blood disorders
- Nurse-to-patient ratio varies based on acuity from 1:1 to 2:1
- Uses EPIC EMR, Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and Alaris & Medfusion pumps
- Requires floating to pediatric CVICU, NICU, peds progressive care, and general peds units as needed
- Rotating every other weekend and alternating major holidays
- Night shift position,
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, intensivists, residents, and APPs
- Centralized and bedside monitoring utilized within the unit
- Orientation includes NEO and 2 days departmental training
- Navy scrubs are required for this position
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Parking is free for staff
- Schedule follows a 6-week cycle and time off (RTO) requires manager approval
- Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, and compassion
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of high-acuity pediatric ICU experience required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience with EPIC EMR, Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, invasive lines, ventilator/trach management, and CRRT required
- Must be comfortable in fast-paced, high-acuity pediatric environment
- Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU may be discussed during interview
