Registered Nurse (RN) | Labor & Delivery –

Rotating - 3 days x 12 hours
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

- Provide labor and delivery nursing care with experience in LDRP or couplet care.
- Circulate in the OR for Cesarean deliveries and recover patients in PACU.
- Perform IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and IV therapy as part of maternal and neonatal care.
- Manage fetal monitoring (external/internal) and recognize/ respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
- Assist with sterile speculum exams, NST, OCT, and triage of obstetrical patients; manage mother/baby care and postpartum recovery.
- Support neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring, cord management, and nursery responsibilities as applicable.
- Administer medications and IV therapies (including anticoagulants, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, prostaglandins, terbutaline).
- Support postpartum care including breastfeeding/lactation support, episiotomy/incisional care, Foley catheter management, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment.
- Collaborate on high-risk deliveries and perform related procedures as trained.
- Operate within isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration protocols.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in labor and delivery; must have L&D and either LDRP or couplet care experience.
- Certifications:
AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate, BCLS, FHM, NRP; preferred ACLS and AWHONN Advanced. - Experience with maternal/newborn procedures, including cesarean circulation, newborn care, and post-anesthesia recovery as applicable.
- Target Ratios: L&D 1:1-2, Couplet care 1:3 (average), varies by unit needs; 15 rooms / 17 beds.
- Contract suitability: 13 Week Contracts accepted; 36 hours per week possible;
Shift: 12 Hour Nights (18:45 - 07:15). - Call:
May be required if low census. Float:
Occasionally may float but not frequent. - Weekend
Shifts:
8 shifts per contract. - Patient Diagnoses:
Low risk LDRP unit; higher risk transfers handled per unit policy. - Special Procedures/Unit Details: 8 LDRP rooms, 3 observation rooms, 3 triage rooms; occasional cases such as hysterectomy if census allows.
- Unit Systems:
Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR.
Notes:
We are an LDRP unit; RNs will have labor or couplet care, and must be able to circulate in the OR for C/S deliveries and recover patients in PACU. We provide all required equipment; scrubs provided in blue.
