Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring dysrhythmia management and a NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Patient ratios are 5:1, with occasional increases to 6:1
- Patient population includes pulmonary and general medical patients, including trach, COPD, and asthma cases
- Special procedures include care of patients with trachs, chest tubes, and use of bipap/cpap (no vents)
- Uses Epic for EMR, PYXIS for medication management, and SBAR for communication
- Scheduling is self-scheduling, balanced by leadership based on unit needs and time off requests
- 36 hours weekly, night shift (12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15)
- Floating is required within the service line
- Weekend requirement is 6 weekend shifts (3 weekends) every 6 weeks
- No on-call requirement
- Assignment is 13 weeks with the possibility of extension
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Navy blue and white scrubs are required; scrubs are not provided
- No additional RTO will be granted after booking and any unit call-offs could result in cancellation
- Care for patients with longer lengths of stay and manage pulmonary conditions as part of daily responsibilities
- No vent management required
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
- Certification in BCLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required
- Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
