Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Pediatric ICU position requiring a NC or compact RN license, BLS, and PALS certification.
Responsibilities- Position is in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center within a teaching hospital setting
- Unit has 24 beds and an average daily census of 21-23 patients
- Patient population includes respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, complex medical, and blood disorders
- RN-patient ratios vary from 2:1, 1:1, to 1:2 depending on acuity
- Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, every other weekend rotation required
- Alternate major holidays coverage required
- Floating as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and general Peds units
- EMR system is Epic, and experience with this system is required
- Utilizes Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Artic Sun, Camino, and additional advanced equipment
- Responsibilities include providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients with a range of complex conditions
- Support staff includes health care techs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, intensivists, residents, and APPs, all available 24/7
- Department provides centralized and bedside monitoring
- Two-day departmental orientation provided in addition to new employee orientation
- Navy scrubs required

- Manager approval required for requested time off

- Active NC or compact RN license
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent, high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience
- Experience with Epic EMR, Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management, ventilator and trach management, HOFV management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, sedation and analgesic drips, CRRT, and advanced IV pump management
- Must be able to float to Pediatric CVICU as needed
