Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center requiring NC or compact licensure, strong high-acuity PICU experience, and PALS certification.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in a hospital setting that serves as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital
  • Patient census averages 21-23 with acuity-based RN ratios of 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
  • Treat a diverse pediatric patient population including respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant, complex medical, and blood disorders
  • Shift schedule is 12-hour nights from 1845 - 0715 with every other weekend and alternating major holiday requirements
  • No on-call required for travelers
  • Floating required as needed within facility to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Peds
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, and advanced equipment including Artic Sun, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and Phillips monitors
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary support team including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurses, RT, intensivists, residents, and APPs—all available 24/7
  • Orientation includes NEO and two days of department-specific training
  • RTO requests require manager approval
  • Scrub color is navy
  • Parking is free for staff
  • Unit culture is based on teamwork, trust, accountability, and compassion
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
Requirements
  • Active RN license in NC or compact state
  • Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity Pediatric ICU nursing experience
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications
  • Proficient with EPIC EMR and specialized ICU equipment such as Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, invasive lines, ventilator and trach management, CRRT, and aseptic technique
  • Ability to float to related pediatric critical care units as discussed in interview
  • Submitted applicants must include recent professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
