Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center requiring strong high-acuity pediatric ICU experience and BLS/PALS certification.
Responsibilities- Position is in a Pediatric ICU within a hospital setting
- Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital environment
- Unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 21-23 patients
- Patient population includes respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, complex medical cases, and blood disorders
- RN-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
- Work schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts (06:45–19:15) and every other weekend rotation
- Alternate major holiday coverage required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, or general Peds units as needed
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, and various critical care equipment
- Provide advanced nursing care for complex pediatric patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity unit
- Support structure includes CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, RT, intensivist, residents, and APPs 24/7
- Centralized and bedside monitoring is utilized
- Departmental orientation provided, including NEO and 2 additional days on unit
- Scrub color requirement is navy

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is subject to manager approval and scheduling follows a 6-week cycle
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity PICU experience required
- Experience with EPIC EMR, Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and critical care vasoactive drip titration required
- Proficiency in invasive line management, aseptic/sterile techniques, ventilator and trach care, feeding tube and chest tube management, sedation and analgesic drips, and CRRT required
- Must be able to float to Pediatric CVICU as discussed during interview
