Overview

Atrium Health Mercy is a 196-bed facility of Carolinas Medical Center (CMC). Located 1.3 miles from CMC, Mercy is one of two Carolinas Medical Center locations. Atrium Health Mercy is Magnet designated in Nursing Excellence and is also a Planetree designated patient-centered hospital. Atrium Health Mercy is a full-service community hospital specializing in care for seniors and in complex foot and ankle surgery, hip and knee surgery, bariatric surgery, and women’s pelvic health.

Provides professional nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with policies and procedures under the supervision of the supervisor and manager. Maintains a safe work environment and professional competency appropriate to the age, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served.

• Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation.

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English clearly. Demonstrates intact sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Must have finger dexterity and strong critical thinking skills. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

Physical Abilities Testing required. Additional department-specific physical requirements may be identified by the department leader.

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred. BLS required per policy guidelines. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse in the state of work/residence, or meet licensure requirements if state participates in the National Licensure Compact (NLC); or current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse needed in the state where the RN works.

Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the department manager.
