Pay Range

$34.90 - $52.35

The LCH 10P Medical Surgical Unit is an inpatient floor consisting of 24 beds. The 10th floor specializes in the care of patients, 0-18 years of age, with neurosurgical, trauma, orthopedic and cystic fibrosis diagnoses. This unit was very proud to be awarded the Daisy Team award. They embody the culture of teamwork, flexibility, and care.

  • Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience, this position is not for new graduates.

Atrium Health Levine Children s Hospital (LCH) has taken the community to another level of service to provide care for the growing population of children in our region. At 247 beds, LCH is the largest children s hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. It serves high acuity patients as the flagship children s hospital within the innovative Atrium Health and offers a full complement of over 125 pediatric subspecialists in over 30 different pediatric specialties.

We have 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 10 bed PICU, a 10 bed Cardiac ICU (expanding to 24 bed PICU and 20 bed CVICU by the end of 2024), an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. Levine Children s Hospital is also Charlotte s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. LCH has been named a Best Children s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 17 consecutive years and is nationally ranked in 10 pediatric specialties.

Currently, LCH is ranked as the #1 children s hospital in North Carolina and tied for #1 in the southeastern United States. Additionally, Advocate Health Carolinas Medical Center and Advocate Health Levine Children s Hospital have earned Magnet re-designation from The American Nurses Credentialing Center s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program. Magnet designated health care organizations showcase excellence in nursing practice and patient outcomes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, engaging patients and families from admission to post-discharge.
  • Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes.
  • Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
  • Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
  • Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making, respects interdisciplinary roles, and contributes to integrated, unbiased patient care.
  • Appropriate delegation to other registered nurses, licensed practical nurse, nurse assistants, and other unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
  • May be required to float to other units, departments, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department s policies and procedures.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.
  • Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services
  • Note:

    Licensed nurses practicing via telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities are required to be licensed or hold the privilege to practice in the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located. Licensed nurses are responsible and accountable for knowing, understanding, and practicing in compliance with the laws, rules, regulations, and standards of practice of the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located

Education Required:

  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.

Experience

Required:

  • No formal RN experience required.
