Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM

• 36 hours guaranteed per week

• Every other weekend requirement

• Patient ratios 1:2 based on acuity, sometimes 1:3

• Float required as needed within hospital or to affiliate hospitals

• No call requirement

• Maximum 7 days RTO allowed

• Cannot work more than 5 consecutive days or more than 60 hours per week

• 2 years of PICU experience required

• First time travelers accepted with minimum 2 years experience

• Required certifications: BLS, PALS

• Preferred skills:
Neurology experience, chemotherapy administration, IV placement and lab draws

• Epic charting system experience required

• NC or Compact license required

• Care for patients ages 0-17 years

• Common diagnoses include respiratory, neurosurgery, hematology/oncology (excludes cardiac surgery and dialysis)

• Manages many neurology post-operative patients

• Daily census 5-8 patients in 8-bed unit

• Scrubs not provided - pediatric-friendly tops with navy blue pants or all navy

• Must complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start

• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

This healthcare facility features a specialized 8-10 bed pediatric intensive care unit that provides comprehensive critical care services for children from birth to 17 years old. The unit manages complex cases including respiratory conditions, neurosurgical patients, and hematology/oncology cases, with particular expertise in neurology post-operative care. The facility is home to the region's only pediatric board-certified neurosurgeon and maintains high standards of care with dedicated scheduling support and flexible staffing approaches to meet patient needs.
