The Department of Surgery at Atrium Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for the Division of Plastic Surgery. The Division of Plastic Surgery has 9 surgeons, 7 APPs and 11 staff teammates.
This Monday to Friday, full‑time position will directly support the Atrium Health Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery team. The role is primarily inpatient, with variable patient load based on inpatient volume. Focus will be on inpatient management, outpatient APP clinic visits 2–3 times weekly, minor bedside surgical procedures, and opportunity for OR, when needed.
Practice is primarily reconstructive plastic surgery. The APP will assist surgeons who specialize in head/neck reconstruction, pediatric craniofacial surgery, cutaneous malignancy reconstruction, orthopedic reconstruction, OMFS trauma, and a smaller population of breast reconstruction.
Responsibilities- Inpatient management and care coordination.
- Attend outpatient APP clinic 2–3 times per week.
- Perform minor bedside surgical procedures.
- Assume operating room responsibilities as required.
- Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
- Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina.
- Eligible for prescriptive authority through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA with expiration date > 90 days from start of practice.
- Three years of relative experience and/or surgical background preferred.
- Nurse Practitioner – Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required; licensed Registered Nurse and nationally recognized practice certification required; acute‑care board certification based on population and acuity served.
- Physician Assistant – Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required;
Master’s Degree preferred; national certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
