Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across multiple hospital facilities.

• Work in a hospital setting within a Level I Trauma, Teaching, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center
• Assigned primarily to Med/Surg Tele to cover ED holds with a patient ratio of up to 1:5 depending on acuity
• Cares for adult patients facing high-acuity conditions including trauma, stroke, cardiac events, fluid resuscitation, mental health, and medical-surgical illnesses
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Requires weekend rotation every other weekend and coverage of 75% of holidays
• No on-call requirements
• Must float to facilities within the specified regional network as needed and may float mid-shift
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and two days of departmental training
• Nurses are responsible for independent telemetry monitoring as there is no dedicated monitoring tech
• Support team includes CNAs, HUC, resource nurse, charge RN, hospitalist, intensivist, respiratory therapist, IV/VAT team, and phlebotomy
• Scrub color is navy
• Free parking is provided
• First-time travelers may be considered but preference is given to those with prior travel experience
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with additional time added to meet contracted hours if needed

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, PIV starts, trach care, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain management, medication gtt management including cardiac drips and blood products
• Epic EMR experience required or must be willing to learn
• Must live 50 miles or more from the assigned facility per radius rule
