Position Summary

The Program Manager (PM) plays a key role in creating connectivity across the program team at Freedom School Partners (FSP). The PM will facilitate and manage projects across various programs and departments, supporting enrichment, recruitment, intern training, and resource management. This role is instrumental in directing data systems, event coordination, technology support, inventory management, and community engagement while contributing to the overall success of the Freedom Schools® summer program.

Primary

Duties Project Planning & Development
  • Create and standardize Program Team standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee implementation of programs in alignment with strategic and organizational goals.
  • Monitor the use of technology and relevant software to support program operations.
  • Support scheduling and timelines to ensure alignment across all program teams.
  • Develop summer enrichment curriculum and support site‑level implementation for FSP sites.
  • Coordinate on‑site enrichment activities (OSAs) through community partnerships and site volunteers.
  • Purchase supplies and create high‑interest enrichment kits for scholars ranging from K‑8th grade.
  • Maintain daily enrichment schedules and summer calendars for all sites.
  • Coordinate and secure field trip locations, including travel, food, safety, and payment logistics.
  • Track enrichment expenses and receipts to stay within budget.
    • Address site concerns related to field trips and OSAs.
  • Assist with planning and execution of signature program events (e.g., Great Day of DEAR, Jubilee, Field Days).
  • Engage with volunteers to support preparation and execution of enrichment activities in collaboration with the Community Engagement Manager.
Data Analysis & Evaluation
  • Monitor OSA implementation to ensure quality standards.
  • Collect and analyze feedback on field trips and OSAs via surveys and interviews.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to program staff and enrichment partners.
Resource & Administrative Management
  • Coordinate supply distribution schedules with the Supplies and Materials Coordinator.
  • Monitor program assets and collateral in database software.
  • Record meeting minutes for programming team and Partnership Network meetings.
  • Update project management dashboards and support communication with site partners.
Recruitment & Training
  • Serve as a key member of the recruitment and training team.
  • Attend recruitment events, interview, and evaluate candidates.
  • Present at classroom visits to promote FSP programs.
  • Develop intern training materials and oversee virtual training platforms.
  • Establish expectations and train summer staff on field trips and OSAs during in‑town training.
Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior experience in program coordination, enrichment programming, or youth development.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff, interns, or volunteers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Workspace, Canva, and project management tools (Microsoft Planner, etc.).
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting preferred.
  • Interest in nonprofit operations, children’s literacy, and community engagement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with physical setup for events or supplies.
    • Reliable transportation to FSP sites across Charlotte.
