This role is central to that mission: connecting with communities, mobilizing volunteers, building relationships, and ensuringequitabledistribution of essential supplies.

Position Overview

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a community-facing, people-centered leader responsible for building and sustaining strong relationships with volunteers, partner organizations, andwithin Lower Cape Fear communities. This role blends volunteer management, community outreach, coordination of product distribution, and warehouse/operational leadership.

This role will support execution of our Essentials Hub (eHub) program and communitydistributionevents.

Part ambassador, part organizer, and part project manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator ensures that DBNC’s community engagement efforts are mission-centered, organized,equitable, joyful, and responsive to community needs.

Key Responsibilities

Community Relationship Building & Outreach

  • Build durable, authentic, trust-filled relationships with community leaders, partner organizations, and residents in communities grounded in dignity and respect.
  • Understand the needs and strengths of communities and connect them with DBNC resources.
  • Serve as a welcoming primary point of contact for volunteers, partners, and community members.
  • Represent DBNC at community events, partner meetings, volunteer engagements, and outreach activities.
  • Foster alliances among diverse constituents:individuals, groups, and neighborhoods to increase awareness and access to essential hygiene products.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support a diverse volunteer base including individuals, families, and corporate or civic groups.
  • Lead volunteer shifts, ensuring safety, clarity, joy, and connection to DBNC’s mission.
  • Develop andmaintainvolunteer training materials and engagement tools.
  • Track volunteer participation, stories, and impact metrics to support communications and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to create meaningful volunteer opportunities, including mobile wrapping or community-based events.

Project Management & Coordination

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously,anticipating needs, removing barriers, and coordinating across DBNC teams.
  • Communicate proactively with internal teams to ensure alignment on volunteer activities, community initiatives, and distribution goals.
  • Support data collection and reporting to inform decision-making and highlight program impact.

Distribution & Warehouse Operations

  • Prepare, organize, and ensure accuracy of product orders for community distribution.
  • Lead volunteers in wrapping, sorting, packing, and warehouse activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming warehouse environment.
  • Ensure quality control for distribution processes, tracked inventory, and partner orders.
  • Provide hands-on support: lifting, sorting, preparing pallets, or driving a van (training available).

Communication

  • Maintain clear,timely, warm, andaccuratecommunication with partners, volunteers, and internal staff.
  • Listen deeply and respond to the needs voiced by community members.
  • Support messaging, storytelling, and social media collaboration thathighlightvolunteer and community impact.
