Machine Operator Mfg Direct - Exterior Doors at Builders First Source
SummaryOperates specialized machines such as door router, stair router, welder, plate cutter, table saws, planer jointer, and component cutter to perform routing, boring, rip sawing, cross cutting, beveling, grooving, and mitering of lumber or wood stock.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Updates machine control settings and selects proper materials for each work order.
- Starts machines and positions stock on tables according to guides and specifications.
- Measures cut stock with rulers, calipers, or squares to verify dimensions against specifications.
- Executes cuts, routes, and borings on wood stock or finished products (doors) per written or computerized specifications.
- Marks finished items with correct labels (numbers and/or letters).
- Transfers cut stock from machines to job carts and delivers them to appropriate locations or teammates.
- Maintains production counts on work orders and delivers paperwork to team leaders or managers.
- Prepares cut inventory for future use.
- Clean equipment, floors, and work areas according to safety procedures.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus at least one year of prior experience and/or training in related millwork, construction, or lumber industries. Six months of machine work experience and good mechanical aptitude are required. Understanding of mill production products and components is essential, with a strong focus on quality, quantity, and safety.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCDL A or B may be required. Forklift certification may also be required.
