Systems Engineer
Overview
They are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support a large-scale, nationally aligned network organization undergoing significant architectural and operational transformation. This role sits on a national AMP (Augments, Migrations, and Provisioning) team responsible for expanding network capacity, provisioning customer services, executing hardware migrations, and performing network decommissioning initiatives. The position plays a key role in modernizing the network by replacing end-of-life equipment with current-generation platforms.
Responsibilities- Lead and support network hardware and service migrations, including customer provisioning activities.
- Execute migrations from legacy and end-of-life platforms to newer standardized hardware (e.g., QFX to ACX).
- Support customer turn-ups and provisioning requests previously handled through Salesforce-based workflows.
- Participate in large-scale End of Service / End of Support (EoS/EoL) initiatives.
- Identify, remove, and replace obsolete network equipment in compliance with vendor and internal lifecycle standards.
- Install, configure, and swap network devices across core, aggregation, and access layers, including:
- Juniper: MX, ACX, QFX
- Cisco: 7600, 9K
- Legacy systems:
Nokia 7210/7750, older Cisco DSWs - Optical and transport gear: ADVA, RAD
- Perform physical and logical network link augments to increase capacity and support growth initiatives.
- Initially execute augments internally, with contractors potentially taking on this work in the future.
- Perform DGP swap-outs on customer premises (CP).
- Juniper, Nokia, Ciena, Migration experience, Decommissioning Experience, troubleshooting
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively in a nationally distributed team model.
- Prior experience with large service provider or carrier-scale networks.
- Juniper Certifications (JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP) strongly preferred due to the predominance of Juniper equipment in the network.
- Troubleshooting experience is a plus, though not a primary responsibility in this role.
This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $53.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
