Field Service Technician – Level IV
Job OverviewWe are seeking highly experienced Field Service Technician Level IV professionals to support installation, troubleshooting, and repair of high‑precision CNC machine tools at customer sites across the U.S. This role requires a high level of autonomy, deep technical expertise, and strong customer‑facing skills.
Key Responsibilities- Travel to customer facilities to perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of Okuma CNC machines
- Install new and introductory CNC equipment, retrofits, and design improvements
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, CNC control, servo, PLC, and automation issues
- Provide remote technical support via phone and email when applicable
- Prepare and submit detailed service trip reports to management and customers
- Develop technical bulletins, repair manuals, and “how‑to” documentation
- Communicate effectively with distributors, end users, and internal service teams
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned and proactively identify opportunities to add value
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics or equivalent hands‑on experience
- Minimum 5+ years of CNC machine tool service experience
- Strong background in CNC controls, servo systems, PLCs and automation, precision mechanical alignment, machine tool theory, hydraulics and pneumatics, and servicing Okuma CNC machines (strongly preferred)
- FANUC CNC experience (preferred)
- Prior technical documentation or writing experience (preferred)
- Proficient with precision diagnostic tools, including laser alignment systems, ball bars, precision levels and dynamo meters
- Ability to interpret advanced assembly drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
- Hands‑on experience with hand tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, cranes, and forklifts
- Comfortable using PC tools such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong customer‑focused mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem‑solving, prioritization, and multitasking skills
- Adaptable and comfortable in a fast‑paced service environment
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 70 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and reach for extended periods
- Clear or corrected vision suitable for detailed technical work
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for tools and equipment
- Split between office, warehouse/showroom, and customer production facilities
- Exposure to varying temperatures, industrial equipment, forklifts, and moderate to high noise levels
- Must maintain required OSHA safety certifications
- Candidates must provide 2 professional references
- Background check and drug screening required (including marijuana)
- No violent offense history permitted
